Durians For Sale!

Due to popular demand, Resorts World Genting has extended the sales of the Durians, now with more variety of the best grades from Penang Island! Penang is well-known for its best durian as its fertile hill soil, temperature and rainfall makes it ideal for Durian cultivation. Good durians, like fine wine, taste slightly different when they come from different trees.

With choices from a variety of delectable Durians such as Holoh, Red Prawn, Chook Kiok and Black Thorn, one has to count their lucky stars to be able to enjoy these treasures, 6,000 feet above sea level.

For those who are not familiar with the names above, here is a lil’ trivia on the Durians.
Hor Loh / Water Gourd Durian
First cultivated at the Brown Estate of Sungai Ara, it got its name from its appearance resembling a “Holoh” pumpkin. Its flesh is very soft, dry and slightly bitter and it has a sharp smell to it.
If the durian hits the ground hard when it falls, the flesh tends to be bitter thereafter.

Red Prawn (Ang Heh / Red Prawn Durian)
Red Prawn originates from Pondok Upeh, Balik Pulau, and has a round-shaped husk. The orange reddish flesh is highly aromatic, very soft with a bitter-sweet taste.

Chook Kiok (Bamboo Leg Durian)
Chook Kiok also known as Tekah (Bamboo Leg) originates from Tanjung Sepat, Selangor. It has been known since 1970s. Now widely planted in the northern region of Malaysia , it has a strong aroma, high flesh content and is orange in colour. The inner core of the fruit has some yellow flower pattern that bind the skin together, which even experience sellers will find difficult to open.
Black Thorn (Orchi Durian)
One of the best Durians in Penang , it is also known as Orchi. On the list of most famous clones from Penang, just like the Mau San Wong, it is a very new clone originated from Sungai Bakap, Penang . It has a rounded shape and flat bottom. Its aroma is extremely strong but unique. Its flesh possesses a very creamy and concentrated bitter sweet taste which contains less fibre, thus literally melts in your mouth.
